Falling Into Place
Falling Into Place, an exhibition at Dryden Gallery in Providence, RI. Curated by Beth Kantrowitz.
On view February 17 - March 30, 2024
Dryden Gallery and then gallery director Mea Duke were kind enough to give me the opportunity to exhibit this new body of work in the early part of 2024. Beth Kantrowitz curated the pieces and arranged the layout in the gallery for the show. If you have not been to Dryden Gallery, then you are missing out. The space is large and airy with high ceilings and expansive windows. The natural light on a bright day is wonderful for catching all the details in the paintings on view.
The pieces in this show at Dryden Gallery evolved over the past few years as I took my paintings into a more geometric realm and refined the interactions of overlaying colors. Light and depth are expressed in my paintings through layering, and an abstracted geometry that references nature and the aging of things. Working with transparency is an important part of the process, enabling me to have light and shadow present. My imagery and color choices are influenced by my background in design and from feelings about places or times of day. As this series of paintings continues to evolve I can feel the pieces of it falling into place.
